FullFibre’s Fibre Heroes growth continues unabated, reaching even more underserved locations.
FullFibre’s Fibre Heroes follow in the footsteps of Robin Hood, the original superhero, by adding two more locations in the county as part of their national build programme. Southwell, home of the famous minster, and Edwinstowe in the heart of Sherwood Forest will join the previously announced town of Retford, bringing high-speed and quality connectivity to all businesses and residents.
With dependence on the internet ever increasing and consumers requiring constant access to fast, reliable connectivity, Fibre Heroes investment into these communities will help address the digital divide between urban and more rural areas. Larger communities such as Newark and Ollerton now have access to full fibre broadband but Fibre Heroes, as a commercial builder, look for opportunities to connect smaller locations like Edwinstowe and Southwell as part of their national plan.
Fibre Heroes are a wholesale network provider that build and implement full fibre networks to provide local people with ultrafast (Gigabit capable) internet speeds, 10 times faster than what’s currently available. Other benefits of full fibre internet include consistent connections, high-quality multi-device use, and reduced buffering during ‘peak’ hours.
Chris Williams, Area General Manager says:
“Expanding our activity in Nottinghamshire will be a great privilege for us at FullFibre. We are passionate about connecting the country and are proud to be bringing the power of ultrafast, FTTP broadband to these underserved towns.”
Councillor Keith Girling, chairman for both Nottinghamshire County Council’s Economic Development and Asset Management Committee as well as the Economic Development Committee at Newark and Sherwood District Council, also commented:
“It’s great news that these areas will be even better connected. The pandemic has of course meant we’ve adapted the way we work, learn, and communicate, so having better, faster broadband is more important than ever for residents, businesses, and our economy. It’s the latest example of private sector innovation and investment supporting our ambition for every Nottinghamshire home and business to be able to access superfast speeds.”
Fibre Heroes has the goal of reaching over 500,000 premises by 2025 and are well on their way towards this target.
